How Much Does Fiverr Cost? Fiverr Fees, Service Fee and Pricing in 2026

Fiverr charges both sides of the same order. A buyer pays the gig price plus a 5.5% service fee, plus a $3.50 small order fee on any single payment under $200. The seller separately gives up 20% of the gig price. That is a combined take of roughly 25.5% on a typical order, the highest of the large marketplaces. Figures verified August 2026.

One fee, charged once

SuperGig replaces the buyer service fee, the small order fee and the 20% seller commission with a single flat 10% project fee. Freelancers keep 100% of their rate. See the full freelance marketplace fees.

The fee stack

What Fiverr actually charges

The number on a Fiverr gig card is never the number you pay. Fiverr adds a service fee of 5.5% at checkout, and if that individual payment is under $200 it also adds a flat $3.50 small order fee. So a gig advertised at $100 costs $109 before any sales tax. That is a 9% premium on the sticker price, and it is charged per payment rather than per order. Buy the gig, then add a rush delivery extra, then leave a tip, and each of those three payments carries its own service fee.

The larger charge sits on the other side of the transaction and buyers rarely see it. Fiverr takes a flat 20% commission from the seller on the order value, including gig extras and tips. It is not tiered, and it does not fall as a seller builds a long relationship with you. A freelancer who lists a $500 project banks $400. Add the two sides together and Fiverr collects about 25.5% of the value of a typical order, which is the highest total take rate among the major freelance marketplaces.

That 20% is worth thinking about even if you only care about your own budget, because sellers price around it. A freelancer who needs to net $80 an hour has to list at $100 an hour on Fiverr. The commission does not vanish; it gets built into the gig price you are quoted. For the wider market context on rates before any platform fee, our guide to how much it costs to hire a freelancer covers US rate bands across disciplines.

The cost breakdown

Fiverr fees, component by component

Seven line items make up the real cost of working through Fiverr. The third column is the one that matters for budgeting: some fees land on you, some land on the freelancer and get priced back into your quote, and a couple are optional subscriptions.

Cost component What Fiverr charges Who pays
Buyer service fee 5.5% added at checkout on top of the gig price, calculated on each separate payment rather than on the order total. Buyer
Small order fee A flat $3.50 on any individual payment under $200. Disappears entirely at $200. Buyer
Seller commission A flat 20% of order value, including gig extras and tips. Not tiered and does not fall with volume or tenure. Freelancer
Fee on tips and extras Both fees apply again. A tip carries the buyer service fee on the way in and the 20% commission on the way out. Both sides
Fiverr Pro (buyer plans) Pro Essential reported at no upfront cost with an annual spend commitment after year one; Pro Advanced reported at $129 per month plus tax. Optional, buyer
Seller Plus subscription Reported at $25 per month for Standard and $49 per month for Premium, on top of the 20% commission. Optional, freelancer
Withdrawal and clearing Reported at $0 via PayPal, $1 via Payoneer and $3 via bank transfer, after a 14-day clearing period. Freelancer

The 5.5% service fee, the $3.50 small order fee and the 20% seller commission were verified against multiple independent published sources in August 2026. Subscription and withdrawal figures are marked reported because Fiverr does not publish them in a single fee schedule. Fees change, so confirm the current numbers at checkout before budgeting. Side by side

Fiverr cost vs SuperGig cost, line for line

Cost item Fiverr SuperGig
Fee on the buyer 5.5% service fee on every payment, plus $3.50 when a payment is under $200. A single flat 10% project fee. No per-payment charge, no small order fee.
Fee on the freelancer A flat 20% commission, including on extras and tips. Not tiered. 0%. Freelancers keep 100% of their quoted rate.
Total platform take About 25.5% of order value across both sides. 10%, and it is our entire revenue on the project.
How you find someone You browse an open catalog of gig listings and self-serve. Anyone can list; you do the screening. A hand-picked shortlist of three vetted matches, delivered in 48 hours from a written brief.
Vetting bar Open marketplace with ratings and levels earned over time. No independent skills assessment before listing. 4-stage vetting that passes fewer than 1 in 20 applicants.
Payment protection Funds are held until you accept delivery, with a resolution process and a revision policy per gig. Milestone escrow, released only on work you approve.
Best suited to Small, well-defined, packaged deliverables where you know exactly what good looks like. Ongoing or higher-stakes work where a bad hire costs more than the fee.

Both models are computable in advance, which is more than can be said for most agencies. The difference is how much of the project value the platform keeps and how much screening work lands on you. See exactly how hiring works on SuperGig, or read the full Fiverr alternative breakdown.

A worked example

A $5,000 project, costed on both platforms

Same project, same $5,000 gig price, costed with each platform's fees. Watch two numbers: what you pay, and what the freelancer actually banks. The gap between those two is where the real difference lives.

Through Fiverr

Verified fees
  • Gig price$5,000
  • Buyer service fee, 5.5%$275
  • Small order fee (over $200)$0
  • Seller commission, 20%$1,000
  • Freelancer receives$4,000

You pay $5,275. The freelancer banks $4,000. Fiverr keeps $1,275 of the $5,275 that left your account, which is 24% of the total.

Through SuperGig

Flat fee
  • Agreed rate$5,000
  • Flat 10% project fee$500
  • Small order or per-payment fee$0
  • Commission on the freelancer$0
  • Freelancer receives$5,000

You pay $5,500, about $225 more than on Fiverr. The freelancer banks $1,000 more, because the 10% is the only fee on the project.

Being fair to Fiverr: on this project the buyer genuinely pays less, by about $225. The honest question is what that $225 buys. On Fiverr the freelancer is working for $4,000 on a job you valued at $5,000, and the 20% they lose gets priced back into what they quote you next time. On SuperGig the freelancer is kept whole and the shortlist is vetted before it reaches you. Worth knowing

A $199 order costs more than a $200 order

The small order fee is a cliff, not a slope. It applies in full to any individual payment under $200 and vanishes at exactly $200. That produces a genuinely odd result at the threshold.

Gig price Service fee, 5.5% Small order fee You pay
$25 $1.38 $3.50 $29.88
$100 $5.50 $3.50 $109.00
$199 $10.95 $3.50 $213.45
$200 $11.00 $0.00 $211.00
$1,000 $55.00 $0.00 $1,055.00

Scoping a $199 gig up to $200 makes the order $2.45 cheaper. The same logic applies to how you structure a larger job: because the service fee is charged per payment, splitting one $600 project into four $150 milestones adds four small order fees, $14 you would not otherwise pay. On small work the effective fee rate is what hurts. At $25 the buyer-side cost is 19.5% of the gig price, not 5.5%.

Fair is fair

When Fiverr is worth the fee, and when it is not

Fiverr built the packaged-deliverable model and it works. The fee is only a problem when the thing you are buying is not really a package.

Fiverr is a good fit when

  • The deliverable is packaged and finite. A logo, a voiceover, a video edit, a set of product photos. You know the output, so the fee buys convenience rather than judgment.
  • You want to buy without a conversation. Fiverr's catalog model lets you compare, click and order in minutes with no brief, no calls and no proposals.
  • The order is comfortably over $200. Above the threshold the small order fee disappears and the buyer-side cost settles at a clean 5.5%.
  • You can afford a miss. On a $150 task, a bad result costs you $150 and a day. That is a reasonable bet on an open marketplace.

Fiverr costs you more when

  • The work is ongoing. A 20% commission every month on a retainer relationship is expensive for both sides, and it never steps down for tenure.
  • Orders are small and frequent. The $3.50 fee on every payment under $200 turns a 5.5% headline into an effective rate two or three times higher.
  • You need a vetting floor. Levels and reviews are earned over time, not assessed up front, so screening for real skill is still your job.
  • A bad hire is expensive. On production code, financial records or a brand rebuild, the cost of a miss dwarfs any fee difference between platforms.

If your answer sits mostly on the right, a vetted shortlist with one flat fee is the cheaper path once you count your own time. See SuperGig as a Fiverr alternative, compare how much Upwork costs and how much Toptal costs, or start from the full platform comparison hub.

FAQ

Fiverr pricing: common questions

How much does Fiverr charge buyers?

Buyers pay a service fee of 5.5% on every payment, plus a $3.50 small order fee on any single payment under $200. A $100 gig therefore costs $109 before tax: $100 to the seller, $5.50 service fee and $3.50 small order fee. The fee is charged per payment, so extras and tips added later are each charged again.

What percentage does Fiverr charge?

Fiverr charges two percentages on the same order. The buyer pays 5.5% on top of the gig price, and the seller pays a 20% commission out of the gig price. Combined, Fiverr collects roughly 25.5% of the gig value on a typical order, which is one of the highest total take rates among the large freelance marketplaces.

How much does Fiverr charge sellers?

Fiverr takes a flat 20% commission from sellers on the order value, including gig extras and tips. A freelancer who lists a $500 project receives $400. The 20% is not tiered and does not fall as a seller earns more, unlike marketplaces that reduce their cut for long-running client relationships.

What is the Fiverr service fee?

The Fiverr service fee is the 5.5% charge added to the buyer at checkout, on top of the price shown on the gig card. It is calculated on each separate payment rather than on the order as a whole, so buying a gig and then adding an extra or a tip triggers a fresh service fee on each of those payments.

Does Fiverr charge a small order fee?

Yes. Fiverr adds a $3.50 small order fee to any individual payment under $200. Because the fee disappears at exactly $200, a $199 payment costs $213.45 in total while a $200 payment costs $211.00. Paying one dollar more makes the order $2.45 cheaper, which is worth knowing when you scope a gig.

How much does Fiverr Pro cost?

Fiverr Pro Essential is reported to have no upfront cost but carries an annual spend commitment after the first year. Fiverr Pro Advanced is reported at $129 per month plus tax. On the seller side, Seller Plus is reported at $25 per month for Standard and $49 per month for Premium. Confirm current pricing with Fiverr before you budget.

Is Fiverr cheaper than Upwork?

For the buyer, no. Fiverr charges 5.5% plus a possible $3.50 small order fee, while Upwork charges a 3% to 5% marketplace fee. On the seller side the gap is wider: Fiverr takes a flat 20%, Upwork a variable 0% to 15%. Total take rate is the honest comparison, and Fiverr sits at the top of it.

How much does Fiverr charge for withdrawal?

Withdrawal costs are reported at $0 for PayPal, $1 for Payoneer and $3 for bank transfer, after a 14-day clearing period on completed orders. The clearing delay matters more than the fee for freelancers running on tight cash flow, because money sits unavailable for two weeks after the work is approved.
