Senior Full-Stack Developer
Turing pricing is quote-only. 2026 reviews report $100 to $200 an hour for mid to senior developers, which is about $17,300 to $34,700 a month full time, and say Turing keeps 50% to 55% of what it bills. There is a 14-day trial, no deposit and no minimum contract.
At those rates a Turing developer costs more than a US employee from about $93 an hour. Below, the reported numbers become a monthly budget, the margin is taken apart, and we cover the change in Turing's business that explains why its developer rates moved up.

Why the quotes disagree
Search for Turing rates and you find two answers. Older reviews describe $30 to $60 an hour, with a salary-style model for full-time remote developers. Reviews published in 2026 report $100 to $200 for mid to senior engineers and more for AI specialists.
Both can be true for different roles and different years. Turing prints no rate card, so the only number that counts is the one in your written quote. Use the 2026 band to budget and treat anything lower as a pleasant surprise, not a plan.

Where the hourly rate goes
Turing bundles everything into one hourly rate: vetting, matching, payroll, time tracking and account management. It does not itemize the fee. Third-party reviews report that it keeps 50% to 55% of every dollar billed, and one cites a developer paid $6,000 a month whose time was billed at $14,500 or more, which is closer to 59%.
That is a high share by staffing standards. Toptal's markup is reported at 30% to 50% of the developer's rate, which works out to roughly 23% to 33% of what the client pays. Treat the Turing figure as a review estimate, not a disclosed number, but it explains why a $150 quote does not buy a $150 engineer.
If you are comparing networks, our Toptal pricing breakdown reconstructs the same math, and the Andela pricing and conversion fee page covers the cheapest of the big three.

The question finance will ask
A US software developer at the BLS May 2025 median earns $135,980. With benefits and payroll taxes at the BLS employer-cost ratio of 1.43, the company pays $194,451 a year, or $93.49 for each of 2,080 hours.
At the 2026 rates, a full-time Turing developer costs more than that employee at every point in the band. What you buy for the premium is speed and flexibility: no recruiting, no benefits administration, and the option to end the engagement without severance.

Turing started as a marketplace for remote developers. Today most of its growth comes from supplying engineers and domain experts to frontier AI labs for model training, evaluation and post-training work. It raised a $111 million Series E at a $2.2 billion valuation in March 2025 and reported about $300 million in annualized revenue, up roughly 150% in a year.
For a buyer hiring one developer, that matters in two ways. The same engineers you want are also billable to AI labs, which pushes rates toward the $100 to $200 band. And the developer-hiring product is no longer the center of the company, so ask how quickly replacements are made and who your account contact is.
If what you actually need is a scoped build with a fixed price rather than a person billed by the hour, a software development company that turns a brief into a fast estimate is often the cleaner comparison than any talent network.
Side by side
| Route | Hourly band, reported | Up front | Trial | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Turing | $100 to $200 | No deposit, no minimum | 14 days, some say 21 | AI and senior roles, fast |
| Toptal | $60 to $150+ | $500 deposit + $79/mo | Up to 2 weeks | One senior freelancer fast |
| Andela | $35 to $100+ | 30 days notice after trial | 15 business days, paid | Long seats, lower rates |
| Arc.dev | $15 to $110+ | $300 deposit, reported | Up to 2 weeks | Budget remote hires |
| SuperGig Business | Agreed with the developer | $349/mo for the post | Free rematch | 1 to 2 developers you keep |
Turing is the easiest of these to start with: no deposit, no minimum and a trial before the first invoice. It is also, on 2026 reports, the most expensive per hour. Andela and Arc.dev sit lower, Toptal sits in between, and the Arc.dev pricing page shows how a deposit and placement fee change the math.
A flat plan removes the margin. Pay a senior contractor $90 an hour directly for a full month and the bill is $15,600 plus $349, against $26,000 for a $150 Turing seat. You do the interviewing from a vetted shortlist and manage the work. Fair market rates by stack are in our freelance developer rates for 2026.

Questions
Turing does not publish a rate card and quotes each role. Current reviews put mid to senior developers at about $100 to $200 an hour, with machine learning engineers around $150 to $200 and generative AI specialists up to about $225. Full time, that is roughly $17,300 to $34,700 a month for one developer.
Reported Turing hourly rates fall into two bands. Older reviews describe $30 to $60 an hour for full-time remote developers, while 2026 reviews report $100 to $200 for mid to senior engineers. The gap reflects seniority, specialty and when the quote was taken, so ask for a written quote per role.
Third-party reviews report that Turing keeps about 50% to 55% of what it bills. On a $150 hourly rate that leaves the developer roughly $67.50 to $75. One review cites a developer paid $6,000 a month billed to the client at $14,500 or more, about 59% retained.
Yes. Turing advertises a risk-free trial, reported as 14 days in most reviews and 21 days in some, before billing starts. Reviewers report no upfront deposit and no minimum contract. There is no published replacement guarantee or service level once the trial ends.
At the rates reported in 2026, usually not. A full-time Turing developer at $100 an hour costs about $208,000 a year, 1.07x the $194,451 a US median software developer costs with benefits and payroll taxes. At $150 it is 1.60x. The break-even rate is about $93 an hour.
It still places developers, but most of its growth now comes from supplying engineers and experts to AI labs for model training and evaluation. Turing raised a $111 million Series E at a $2.2 billion valuation in March 2025 and reported about $300 million in annualized revenue, largely from that work.
Post the role once and get a shortlist of three vetted developers. Agree the rate and pay the developer directly. $349 a month for the post, no project fee and no margin on the hourly rate.
Business is $349 per month, or $174 per month billed yearly (50% off), for a project post on the SuperGig project board, with no project fee.
